To My Dear Students in the 2018 P.E.A.C.H Chinese and English Class 4&5 (Yuanyang)
By Ronald Hwang, on 9/6/2018
Thank you all for the touching farewell letters you have written Auntie Linda and me. We are both deeply moved by your love for us.
Even though it has only been one day since we parted, I already miss you all. My heart was very heavy last night when we said good-bye. I regret that I had completely forgotten to take an individual photograph with each of you. Now, I can only rely on the images of all of your lovely faces that had been deeply seared into my memory. I look forward to the day we shall meet again. I earnestly hope that you will continue to work hard to get into a university so that day will be realized.
When I was young, I mistakenly thought that I had to deny any emotion so that I can focus on my schooling and building a successful career. Looking back, it was extremely regrettable. I had missed out on so much precious memories and experiences. Now I realize that the most important aspect of living is to live in Love and with Love. In love we find contentment and happiness. Just like this past week, your love and joyfulness had given me immeasurable happiness and meaning. However, in order to experience the love around you, you must learn to accept and love yourself first. I hope the experience this week had helped you to recognize that you are deeply loved and cared about by many people in this world. With this recognition, I hope you will live happily and confidently. Wake up each day with joy and optimism.
I also want to thank you for the precious gifts that you have given me in the past week. The courage, determination and strength you had shown in living with your difficult circumstances were inspirational. Your openness and willingness to explore and learn were exhilarating. Your love replenished me. You had taught me the potential of human spirit. In a short seven days, you transformed from a shy and uncertain young person to a confident, cheerful and forward looking young man and woman. I rejoiced in the infinite possibilities of successes in your future. Life is an adventure. I hope you will continue to march forward with confidence, strength and “can do” spirit. Enjoy the ride. Treasure every moment.
Stay in school. Get a good education. You are the angel and light of your family.
I want to leave you with this motto for any venture in your life, “No Matter What…”
Much Love and Admirations,
