I was born into a very poor family and we had no money to pay for my schooling. So, I didn¡¯t go to school until I was 10 years old. I had good grades, but I had to drop out of school during the 3rd grade because my mother had a heart problem. Not only did we have no money to pay for school, my father needed my help at home too.
A year later, my school offered me a student loan so I could return to school. This was how I survived elementary school. Furthermore, I was admitted into a better middle school in the city, but to save money, I decided to stay behind and attend the local middle school instead. Even though the expenses in the middle school were still a great burden for my family, my father would go to the city to work whatever job he could find, but it is difficult to find any job with little education. Whenever I think about my mother¡¯s poor health and my father¡¯s burdens, I wonder how can I continue my education. There is no way my family can afford it. But, at the same time, I really want to continue. I want to go to high school and college. I know this is the only path to have a better future for my family and me.
